Life is funny. Now I don't mean Ashton Kutcher "gotcha" kinda funny, more along the lines of Richard Pryor "look at my fucked up life" hysterically funny! One of the humorous things about life is how it introduces you to so many different and interesting individuals and characters. Everybody has their own "thing" that makes them tick, that one thing that is the reason they wake up at the crack of dawn to clock into an underpaid, under appreciated, over-worked job.
For me it is quite simply, making people laugh, whether it be at me or with, I have a strong passion for comedy. There is a term that goes "I'm broke as a joke". As a child I often thought what that meant, how can a joke be broke, well I guess it could if it was a weak one. But still, it was almost like personification in a sense. When I was younger I used to watch Eddie Murphy's stand up tapes and I would think, DAMN! this brotha is anything but broke, I mean, that tight red leather suit must of cost an arm and a leg! And being the little smart mouth kid that I was, it was at that very vhs viewing moment that I realized you can make a living from telling jokes and making people laugh. Wow, now that definitely sounded like an industry that I could get into!
And now life has led me to meet yet another unique and passionate individual who has chosen the art of music to lead him on his path to self fulfillment. Hip Hop and everything that encompasses the culture is a common interest that both Legacy and myself share. I more or less am a student and avid listener of hip hop whereas Legacy is a seasoned producer,emcee, freestyler, and has just recently dropped his first solo album entitled "FORWARD".
And here we are Sept. 25, 2010- The introduction of Legacy and Willyridge has led to the marriage of Hip Hop-Comedy and subsquently UnderGround RailRoad Radio (UGRRR) was born. A station that can be heard on the radio, streamed through your iPods, or even online at http://www.trentu.ca/org/trentradio/.
So in closing I hope you will be a frequent listener every Saturday from 7pm-9pm because we are going to hit you with rawest hip hop and comedy you have ever and never heard.
